There seems to be some confusion with the Friday night booking in protocol. For some time it has been evident that a certain member makes numerous trips to the office equipped with a clip board containing a list of badge numbers. It appears that this member must be booking in many more than he is entitled to. My understanding is that when my number comes out I am entitled to book myself and three others in for both Saturday and Sunday. This only entitles me to book a maximum of eight numbers including my own number for both days. Can someone please advise how the member afore mentioned is able to make five visits to the office as occurred tonight 31/10/08.

Why aren't messages posted within 24 hours as stated above or at least email the member the reason for not posting their comment? I'm sure Ashlar acts impartially!

Good to hear from Steve Buckley in attempting to clarify Friday night's booking in procedure. However i believe he fell well short in stipulating that the member's number that is drawn is the person who should present themselves first to have their number removed plus any others they are booking in before they book in otherwise those numbers could be called and hence waste time in looking for those people. Also each member upon entering the club should only be permitted to enter their own badge number to ensure that only those present in the club house will be called out. The system needs to be fair and has mainly appeared to be so. All we ask is for each member wishing to play golf on a weekend to have an equal opportunity in being called up and selecting a tee-off time.

Last Friday night we received an update of Ken Timmins progress - always good to know that our club has a genuine interest in its members. Could we have an update on one of our greatest members Eric Vircoe - an unrelenting volunteer for more years than many would realise.

Friday night golf booking procedure-
1. Any member entering the club may place THEIR badge number on the entry sheet maintained at the front of the office. this relates to the badge number drawn at random by the raffle machine and shown on the LED display.
2. The number drawn entitles the member to book four spots on Saturday and/or Sunday. The drawn member MUST be part of the group of four and they MUST be in the club when the number is drawn.
3. There is no requirement for that member to physically attend the office to have the numbers put on the starting sheet.
The Match Committee oversees and supervises the draw in accordance with this procedure.
This information is provided by the Match Committee in response to previous messageboard posts by two members. Any member with suggestions for change are asked to enter these suggestions via the suggestion box in the clubhouse.

All efforts are made to respond to messageboard posts as soon as possible however sometimes we need answers from outside sources in order to properly respond to the members comments and this can take a little longer than normal.

I do not believe an public forum such as the messageboard is an appropiate place to comment on a persons welfare however i would be happy to fill you in on what we know if you would like to contact the club office.

Firstly I would like to thank the Match Committee for clarifying the booking in procedure to a couple of our members. For the record members of our group that are entered on the 'Badge # booking in sheet' on Friday nites are ALWAYS present at the club. There are 24 members in our group and on most Friday nites we have anything between 6 & 15 members present!! I have been organising and booking in this group for over 10yrs without cheating the system. Also it's a pity that more club members do not have their groups sorted out before the booking in starts at 6:30. I have waited minutes on numerous occasions for members to decide who they are booking into their group! So come on fellow members get organised and purchase your own CLIPBOARD!!!!

Isn't it funny 1 little camera & you make the news Brad Clegg whoever you are. Possibly not your best move refer Australian Open - John Daly.
Did he buy you a new camera like he offered? Hope you at least get an autographed photo of him and you. If you did bring it to the club & Kerry Christie can bring his photo of Tiger Woods & we can put them up on the wall title it "Brush with Fame"

Thank you for your kind sentiments Jamie but the biggest thanks goes to the 150 plus parents their children juniors members and other supporters of our youngest golfers that attended the Cadet presentation & dinner it was they who made the night the success it was. The only disappointing aspect to the evening was not having Steve and Lyn Taylor on hand to acknowledge the Cadet of the Year - an award they have graciously and generously presented for more than 15 years. Let’s hope the dates for these important occasions next year are honoured and we do not see the same mistakes repeated. Thank you again for all who attended the cadet year finale and my special thanks to those who personally assisted me in making the evening one to remember.

Commiserations to the Encourage Shield boys who were defeated in their semi-finale match last Sunday. You gave your parents and supporters a great thrill this year but more importantly you represented our proud club with dignity and respect. You were obviously gracious in defeat in your last match as this was not missed by your opposing team Manager. I happened to bumped into him today and was delighted to hear him speak so generously about your conduct on Sunday. Before I finish thank you to our Manager Neale Peters I think he rode every emotion with the team during the last two months. Well done to you all.

Yes it definitely wasn't my proudest moment with Long John and the camera. Apologies for any embarrassment my actions may have caused the members committee and staff of Ashlar. You know if it was any other player the photo wouldn't have been taken. I just couldn't help myself. And no he didn't replace the camera.
