Ashlar came a very close second to Macquarie Links losing the pennant by 1 match point. It was extremely hard to compete against other clubs that had lower handicap players than we at Ashlar could field. Our lowest marker was 8 and the highest was 30, but we gave the lower markers a run for their money and did the club proud. Well done to the ladies that gave their time and effort to this competition as we had some travelling to do in our quest to bring home the pennant. Our team consisted of: Rebecca Mead, Lia Lavell, Anne Korte, Yvonne Bell, Rhondda Clelland, Carol O'Brien and Deirdre Smith. This competition is equivalent to the Men's A Grade pennant so I think the club should be very proud of our girl's efforts.
Interclub Bronze 1 Pennant Result 2009
Ashlar unfortunately did not come home with the pennant. Cumberland were the victors for this year with Ashlar coming 3rd. It was a season that saw two games postponed due to rain which made it very difficult as we had to back up for two weeks playing Monday and Fridays to catch up these games. The final day at Cumberland saw Ashl;ar defeat Cabramatta 5 - 0. Again I thank our girls for giving their time to represent the club in this competition. Our team consisted of: Yvonne Bell, Carol O'Brien, Rhondda Clelland, Dianne Patton, Deirdre Smith and Leanne Peters. Next year we are hoping that this pennant will return to Ashlar.
Interclub Shield
Our next interclub competition will be held on Monday 7 September. The Interclub Shield will be held at Rosnay and Cumberland. This is a one day event with 3 divisions playing at both of these clubs. Handicaps will be - Division 1: 10 - 20; Division 2: 21 - 31; Division 3; 32 - 45. Good luck to those ladies who will be competing in this competition.
