| Ashlar is very proud of the opportunities it affords for our junior members. | |
|
Our juniors are very social and are very supportive of each other and any new junior members. They can play 7 days a week, with each other or with other members. They play in all major events, member events and specific junior events. AGC encourages juniors to play to the level of competition they want to and many of our juniors participate in JNJGF events as well as other club events.

At Ashlar we have had juniors representate the club at a Major Pennant Level, Eric Appley Shield, Junior Pennants and the Encourage Shield level. They have the chance to progress through these levels as they progress with their golfing ability and show team commitment and support of others. | |

Recently 11 of our juniors (10 boys), 1 girl participated in the 2009 JNJGF Subaru State Age Championships held at Catalina Country Club and Mollymook Hilltop Golf Courses. Out of the 11, 5 of them came home prize winners. We would like to congratulate all of them for their best efforts and for representing the club as well as they did. |
| If you are interested in becoming a Junior member of Ashlar Golf Club, there is a criteria, depending on age and golfing ability. For more information visit the membership page or contact the office | |
Ashlar is working hard to build up Junior Girl numbers. The girls have a development and practice routine, where they can come every Friday afternoon. Once a fortnight the Golf Professional provides a clinic at the practice range, and works on their swing, bunker play, chipping and putting. Each alternate Friday, they can come to the course to practice using a number of fun games, play some holes, and learn about different events and the scoring of these. For example, Stablefords, Par, Stroke and Match Play. The Pro-shop Group (explained) further below, can also participate in this program.
A Grade Winner- Roney Gilchrist
Runner up- Nicholas McGowan
B Grade Winner- Brody Hare
Runner up- Damien Sherpa
The Ashlar Cadets are pro shop and cadet members of Ashlar Golf Club Limited.

The cadets are broken into groups based on experience and ability. All new cadets start in the beginners group and learn the basics of the game, rules and etiquette through a 6 week go-go golf program. Depending on playing ability and knowledge the otheres are split into a 6 hole or a 9 hole playing program. All players are given a modified golf handicap. |

All cadets are eligible to attend the "free" clinic normally given by the Ashlar Golf Professional on a fortnightly basis. This is run an hour or so, before the cadets competition on the Saturday afternoon. These lessons cover a wide range of golfing fundamentals; including stance, swing, putting, etc. |
| Cadets will also learn, the etiquette of the game, the different types of games, and how to score the different games, and many of the basic rules of golf. The cadet will get an understanding of the importance of being responsible for signing and handing in their own card and as they progress through the stages, the importance of reading the mode of play for the day on the board. Visit the Course Care and Etiquette page. |
